The history of New Zealand

New Zealand was originally settled by Polynesians some time between 1000 and 1300 CE. The descendants are known as Māori. Clink http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C4%81ori and read about them. Write ONE thing that seems the most interesting /shocking/ amazing to you (as a comment below).

I find it interesting that they were the last human community unaffected by the civilisation as we know it.

Māori came to New Zealand from eastern Polynesia, probably in several waves, sometime before 1300.

The word Māori refers to the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand, and to their language.
